Over 100 Swimmers complete Washington’s Crossing - Historic 2-Way Potomac Swim

Update and Results Aug 23, 2020 - WaveOne Open Water and National Harbor hosted the first open water swimming race of 2020 in America. Fantastic swimming with a ton of fun highlighted the long awaited swim in the Nation’s River. Overwhelming congratulations go to all the swimmers who participated in the 9th Washington’s Crossing: Swim Across the Potomac. A glorious morning welcomed the first ever 2-Way event of swimmers paced by Ronan Lauinger in a time of 56:10, followed close behind by Lexie Vanderloo at 56:34, both age 17. Jimmy Ross completed the 2.5 mile swim as the first adult swimmer at 1:05:54, followed by the top masters swimmer, Syril Petit in a time of 1:13:29.

On a course adapted to reflect, but not succumb to the current era, Erin Gemmel swam the Single Distance of 1.25 miles churning the water with a time of 25:19. Jordan Kelly rode her wake in a time of 25:40. Both are 15. Caitlin Daday led the adult field at 30:10 and Margaret Conze out swam the masters in a time of 31:44.

Clearly, the fast swimming released the pent up race energy of the past few months. Athletes aged from 11 through 80 splashed into the Potomac with enthusiastic fervor and determination. Special thanks go to National Harbor and Oasis Marinas for opening up the venue and enabling us to create an awesome event. Enormous gratitude goes out to our WaveOne Crew and volunteers whose on-water and land support provide a healthy, positive interaction and memorable experience for all the swimmers.
